Your Attitude Makes a Difference

can do attitude www.annettecolby.comHave you heard the phrase “attitude is everything”? Indeed, your attitude determines the quality of your life.

Your attitude can have a great impact on your level of success, including how you deal with challenges and obstacles. It’s your attitude that determines the path you take as well as the eventual results that you see in your life. In addition, it is through your attitude that you influence the people connected with you.

What is an attitude? Perhaps New York Times best-selling author John C. Maxwell of “The Difference Maker” best answered this question in this explanation:

  • It is the “advance man” of our true selves.
  • Its roots are inward but its fruit is outward.
  • It is our best friend or our worst enemy.
  • It is more honest and more consistent than our words.
  • It is an outward look based on past experiences.
  • It is a thing that draws people to us or repels them.
  • It is never content until it is expressed.
  • It is the librarian of our past.
  • It is the speaker of our present.
  • It is the prophet of our future.

Your attitude reflects your deepest beliefs about life and self. As you spread your attitude, it increases what you most believe in. If your attitude is rooted in trust, optimism, and faith in a better future, than the energy of those beliefs and values expand out into the world. Likewise, if your beliefs are based in fear, suspicion, cynicism, scarcity, or distrust, then your attitude will enhance those qualities into the world your live in.

This week, challenge yourself to build an attitude that brings about more of what you want to experience. For example, if you want to live in a world that is safe, loving, and connected, then practice developing an attitude that enlarges those experiences. No matter what your opinion is about a situation or event, find some way to step aside from complaining or bullying your opinion onto others. Instead, look within your complaint and discover what you stand for instead of what you stand against. Then align your attitude to reflect the positive nature of your dreams and desires. A positive attitude will not only bring renewed optimism to any situation, but will also open the door to new creative solutions to create more of what you wish to experience.

Greetings Annette,
Sometimes, we fail to notice that every challenge also contains a blessing in disguise? Yes, challenges often seem like inconveniences, especially when they get in the way of something we want. This is where attitude comes in. If we learn to see challenges in a new light, as opportunities, they can easily become some of our greatest blessings. Perception is 99% of the game! Love your work my friend.
