We all want to have wonderfully, happy days every day of the week. But between life’s unexpected challenges, overloaded schedules, and migraine headaches it’s no wonder we’ve forgotten how to smile. It’s easy to focus on the disappointments and stress of life. However, if we look around for just a moment, we may be surprised at the number of opportunities that are available to turn our frowns into smiles.
Here are 5 things to bring happiness back into focus:
Taking one small action on something important to you, and then see yourself as a person who is capable of handling life’s challenges!
As soon as you wake up, take a deep breath, and say hello to your body. You have one more day to live in a body and expand the meaning or enjoyment of your life. Next, look out the window and connect with the sunrise, the trees, and the signing birds. Say hello to your world!
Express positive emotions to the people around you. Using words to express your thankfulness and joy really does help you feel better instantly.
Decide not to deprive someone of hope or rain on their parade.
Sharpen your senses – Savor life’s joys and relish ordinary experiences, like seeing the beauty in the trees around your home, or feeling grateful for your hot shower.

Hi Annette,
Just seeing the sunflower made me smile instantly. Today I found an old friend on Facebook…..this made me very happy.
I called a few of my friends to see how they are doing and had a few laughs. Laughter is always the best medicine, so I take the initiative and try to make people laugh when I feel they are down.
Since the weather is still warm enough to keep the window open, I always awaken to birds chirping……love my mornings!
Chirp, chirp! Kathleen
Hi there Kathleen!
I too LOVE the sunflower picture. I was thinking about what picture to put with the article and in my mind I saw a sunflower. I used to grow them when I was a child, and I remember that as soon as the seeds were ripe, the birds would come and pick all the seeds out of the flower. Back a few years ago when I rode a Harley, I was riding through Nebraska and came across a huge field of sunflowers. As I drove past them, all had their heads pointed toward the sun and all I could see was the backside of the flowers. Except for one – for some reason it was pointed away from the sun and looking at me. I carried that beautiful image with me for many miles.
It’s just so amazing that when we set out to see, smell, hear, and feel the beauty already around us, it’s almost overwhelming. Thanks for your constant posts – your words, your attitude in life, and our connection makes me happy!
Love Annette
If we can laugh at ourselves, then life is surely worth living! There is joy around every corner. We just have to open our hearts to see it.
Like you wrote, “when we set out….”, it is awesome.
Every cloud does have a silver lining and a good laugh is healthy, even if others may think we are insane! haha
