Maybe it’s the freshness of spring or maybe it’s just time for a change. Whatever the cause, I have the desire to create change running through my veins.
For the past few weeks, I’ve felt the urge to completely repaint, redesign, and refurnish my office. I know that in the big picture my life works best when I follow through with my inner guidance and take action while the idea is hot. So over the next few weeks, I’m gifting myself with a complete office renovation.
My office in its current state is shown in the picture above. The room currently has dark cozy red-orange accent walls with gold accents, bookshelves stuffed with beloved books, honey oak furniture, and butterscotch leather client chairs. My office feels beautiful and even cocoon-like, but it’s time for a change.
My sister Elke is coming to visit from upstate New York, and together we’re going to empty the place out and begin again. Everything in the office is going. My vision is light gray paint on the walls, darker gray curtains for grounding and depth, off white client easy chairs and love seat, thick fluffy white area rugs, black office furniture, and crimson red accents. I envision an office space that will feel open and clean, inviting, with a balanced male/female energy, and hints of oriental accents.
Today’s action step was a trip to the local paint store to pick up over forty shades of gray paint samples. After sorting through the samples, one shade came out victorious. I am now the proud owner of primer (to cover the dark orange walls), two gallons of gray paint, and a bag full of miscellaneous painting supplies.
Moving Forward On Your Inner Desires
As you move forward, do you listen to the intuitive voice that lives within? Do you trust your instincts and take action when your feelings are hot? It’s so easy to get busy taking care of everyone else in life that we often ignore or suppress our own true feelings.
Sometimes you just know it’s time for change. I invite you to turn inward right now and notice what’s been trying to get your attention. Are you ripe to remodel your own office, quit smoking, lose weight, or take action on writing that book you’ve always wanted to write? What about cleaning out the garage? Or working for yourself instead of remaining in a corporate position?
What is your inner wisdom whispering, or in some cases screaming for you to hear? It doesn’t matter if the desire is big or small. What matters is tuning in to your inner wisdom, recognizing what is important to you, and taking the right sized action step on that desire.
Today’s Invitation: Dare to hear the voice of your true feelings, your true desires, and put those dreams into action!
P.S. The next series of blog posts will journal my journey of change. I’ll keep you in the loop by posting before, during and after pictures as I move forward. We’ll talk about the pitfalls, difficulties, emotions, and opportunities that change can bring. If you’re going through change yourself, or if you have any helpful inspiration, please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below each article. Your insights may be just the light of hope or help that someone else is searching for.

Speaking of change, Paul and I have our home here on the market. we live on a busy street and are so looking forward to getting some peace and quiet of the Nova Scotia countryside. I’ve been searching on the net and have found several homes that we like.
My beef is that real estate agents bring people to view our house that aren’t handy with tools etc. We have several hedges which need cutting a couple times a year, a lawn that needs mowing , a wood stove which doesn’t feed itself etc. We know as soon as we see these prospective buyers that this isn’t the house for them. Needless to say, we haven’t had any offers of purchase yet.
Sorry, have to go —-more soon.
Love, K.
Hi Kathleen,
Congratulations to you and Paul for putting your vision of a quieter home into the action phase! I hope the transition moves smoothly for you and that you weather the ups and down of home selling / buying with grace and humor.
No office remodel here but lots of clearing out of clutter and reorganizing. Time to let go of the old that no longer works and make space for the new that is on it’s way.
Hi Annette,
Apparently there are over 9 million people living here in Quebec as compared to less than 1 million in the whole province of Nova Scotia. Wow! Now this is definitely a BIG CHANGE.
This anticipation of change gives me more energy and definitely a more spiritual outlook towards the future. However, I do take it all in stride and know whatever will be, will be.
I’m sure your project of overhauling your new office will inspire you.
You Go Girl!
Dear Adrienne…
Let go and let yourself grow! The new will soon fill your heart with a love you have never before experienced. Keep breathing and allowing. Your friends love you always.
Dear Kathleen,
You are brave for desiring such a BIG CHANGE. No matter what, it will be an adventure. Journey well and enjoy the ride!
