Happiness TodayHappiness Principle #4:
Enjoy the Moment

One of the interesting things about the path of personal or spiritual growth is our tendency to postpone happiness until a certain goal or milestone is attained. However, if happiness isn’t experienced—or expanded—along the journey, it’s not going to be laying in wait at the end of the rainbow.

A key principle to having more happiness in life is learning how to have more happiness today, right now. No matter what is going on, take a deep breath and find some way—even a tiny, small way—to look around and find something to be grateful for, something to smile about, or some way to make life a little better for someone else. Do whatever you can to increase the amount of joy felt in your body and life. It’s the most important thing in life.

Don’t keep happiness in the future, apart from you. Find ways to be happy in this now moment, even when life isn’t perfect or your goal isn’t yet attained.

Hi Annette,
Happiness definitely has to come from within. I am very fortunate to have followed my heart and made this move to a much simpler life. I know it isn’t for everyone, however we all have choices to make.

To increase our joy we have to live in the moment because we never know what is around the next bend in the road. It is ok to make future plans, but we are permitted to change our minds if we wish to do so. This feeling of freedom is very satisfying for me. I used to worry and fret if things didn’t turn out the way I wished them to, but Not anymore. Now I take one day/moment at a time and let the chips fall where they may. I’ve always believed that things happen for a reason.

Have a great day, my friend
Kathleen

I agree with you Annette and have enjoyed reading your “Basic Principles that Rule Happiness” posts. So many easy and great ideas to make your life happier and easier. “Think happy thoughts” is something I try to do everytime I find myself frustrated. Some people seem to be having a hard time with this recently in the world.
