Dr. Annette Colby - www.AnnetteColby.comDr. Annette Colby, RD is… an enthusiastic lover of this extraordinary adventure of life (including all the bumps, bruises, detours, and unexpected discoveries), married to Ray Nowicki, intuitive healer, leader and teacher of higher consciousness, currently an ex-Harley rider, totally spiritually inclined, inspirational author, personal growth expert, energy healer, joyful cook & baker, blogger, and obsessed with creation.

For more details about me, read on. For more about what this blog is all about and where you should start, check out the About Divine Self! page and the Welcome article. And if you’re interested in my daily inspirational notes, don’t forget to follow me on Twitter!

“Well… what do you do?”

Whenever I meet someone new, one of the first things I’m asked is, “What exactly do you do?”

I’ve made many loving attempts to craft a unique, short and sweet, attention grabbing elevator speech. But I don’t really fall into any neatly defined box. Plus, when I think about what I do, I realize that what I do is actually who I am.

Okay, okay, so what do I do?

In short, I take myself, and anyone interested, on an amazing journey to align our human self with our divine self… and connect inner passions with positive life energy to purposefully create satisfying physical life experiences.

Every day, I wander deeper into the infinite world of higher consciousness, self-awareness, and personal insight. I show anyone interested how to fall in love with who they really are, how to trust their true feelings, and how to work with their mind, body, and spirit to create a new sense of purpose and passion.

I have the unique ability to help people transform or release negative emotions and achieve inner peace. I show people how to integrate their personal divinity and humanity to become their own enlightened creator of joyful life experiences.

If you are like most of the people I work with and write to, your journey has already taken you a long way down the road, and you are no stranger to self-inquiry. Now you are looking for more… more freedom, more joy, more expression, more fulfillment, and more passion. I show people how to find those missing experiences through my books, CD’S, blogs, newsletter articles, one-on-one counseling sessions, and speaking engagements.

What qualifies me to be an expert of higher consciousness?

Being a teacher of the new spiritual energy is the life I breathe, dream, and live. However, I also happen to have a trunk-full of useful credentials. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and a Masters and Doctoral degree in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology from Texas Woman’s University. In addition, I am a Registered Dietitian, Licensed in the state of Texas, a Certified Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and a Focusing Guide. My most valuable asset doesn’t have a degree or credential assigned to it – I was born an intuitive energy healer and light worker.

Along the way, I’ve discovered something I feared might not happen…

…the more I committed to believing in myself and staying focused on doing the things I loved to do, the more alive I felt. Has the life of human and spiritual consciousness been easy, seamless, and sheer bliss? Not a chance. It’s been new and different, complex, often uncertain, and unquestionably never boring. Living a truly huge life has meant learning how to leave old beliefs and outgrown habits behind in the dust, being willing to accept 100% personal responsibility for my own life, and gaining the ability to make self-loving decisions.

I’ve failed, tripped, and been lost more times than I like to think about.

But, I’ve evolved, taken a lot of purposeful risks, and now I’ve discovered how to release control to achieve a new physical, mental, and spiritual freedom in my life.

During this journey I’ve been in private practice for twenty-one years. I’ve written two books titled, “Your Highest Potential: The New Psychology of Understanding and Working with Self” and, “Body Redesign: Goal Setting Secrets for a Thinner, Happier You.” My most recent adventure has been to create an audio CD titled, “Confidence to Love Your Life.”

Dear Sharna,

Thanks for stopping by, browsing for a while, and saying hello. You left your tender touch with us all.

Wild Geese by Poet Mary Oliver

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting–
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

When trying to find the path to ones self sometimes the road seems endless. I know mine has felt that way at times. At seventeen I had two strokes, and now I suffer from a wealth of other health complications. My Mother is my guardian angel. She found me face down on my pillow not breathing. And if it was not for her, I would have been dead. I was not breathing for more then 5 minutes. I know that there is a bigger plan for my life, inspite of the fact i don’t know when it will happen. Since then I am completing college, I have a 3.0 am on the deans list, published as United States American Scholar in a book. I major in Speech Communications with a concentration in communicational studies and have a minor in Psychology and Criminology,(i’m still nailing down that part) I can do both. I will graduate with honors. Education has always been what I did well at. Inspite of the fact that everyday that I wake up that physically there is always a battle, and isn’t easy. If I couldn’t learn or educate myself I would be lost. So i thank God that I didn’t lose the ability to do that. I have a loving family mother and father and 8 brothers, and wonderful boyfriend who helps me get to doctor appointments. He loves me, and doesn’t see me as flawed. My dad gave me cpr after my mom found me. The doctors told my parents I would die. I spend 12 days intensive care. And now I walk with a cane, sometimes a walker, and have to finish my Senior Year of College online, which isn’t easy. As my health gets more complicated and more difficult day by day, and through it all I remain optimistic for myself and family and those that I meet while i’m in line at the pharmacy or getting my blood drawn every week. I have to tell them they are going to make it, inspite of how it may seem, that just around the bend, there always comes some type of relief. I haven’t shared with them that I haven’t found it for myself, but I still believe it’s out there. I’m just waiting for my bend in this road to come, so I have to keep working. I have touched so many individuals lives, my story is way to long to tell here, but I hope that someday someone will want to hear the rest. My home isn’t hadicapp accessible, and I sent a tape to Extreme Home Makeover, and they never chose me, maybe I should do it again. It’s hard to do things when your mom and dad have 9 of us to take care of. I know that this has been hard on my mother, she worries that if she wasn’t around, would I be ok, and that makes me worry. Because I still need her. So I try not to think about it. I just kept hoping that someday, someone will want to hear the rest of my story and care to help me.

Thanks for allowing me to Share

“Just look around the bend, there always comes some type of relief.”

Dear Brandi,
You are truly an inspiration. Your life is filled with many challenges and yet you find the courage to get up each day and participate in life. I could not imagine anyone who knows you seeing you as “flawed.” With all my heart I wish for you the relief that you seek and the fulfillment of your dreams. Your comments, thoughts, and insights are always welcomed here in our “Divine Self!” community.
With love,
Annette
